Overland Park, MO

Overland Park is both a suburb of Kansas City and the second-biggest municipality in the state of Kansas.

In 2006 Overland Park ranked 7th on Money magazine’s list of best places to live in the U.S. and in 2009 was named one of its 10 best places in America in which to grow up.

Things To Do In Overland Park:

Come Spend A Day In Overland Park!

In keeping with its family-friendly vibe, Overland Park offers attractions for all ages. On a warm, sunny day, visitors can start touring at the 300-acre Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Located on the city’s south side, most of this preserve is devoted to the flora and fauna of eight ecosystems.

Among Overland Park’s attractions is one of metropolitan Kansas City’s best and possibly edgiest art museums, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. Its 12,000 square feet include both permanent and temporary exhibits plus a showcase for local artists. A new-media section focuses on electronic media. Grab a bite before perusing the galleries at on-site Café Tempo.

Kids will love the one-acre Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, a farm established in the late 1800s that now contains animals, a butterfly garden, vegetable gardens and a one-room country schoolhouse. Visitors can ride on a horse-drawn wagon or take pony rides, and there is a Prairie Playground for kids.

Wonderscope is a children’s museum in the next-door town of Shawnee. It is particularly suitable for younger children, with hands-on exhibits about art, nature and science, music, space, and other kid-friendly areas of interest.

Visitors to Overland Park should not miss the one-of-a-kind Incred-A-Bowl. The 65,000 square-foot complex offers laser tag, miniature golf and bowling, including “bumper bowling” for little ones. Adults can rent smaller six-pound bowling balls for kids and control the side bumpers to help youngsters develop aim and coordination.  (source: https://www.mapquest.com/us/ks/overland-park-282040745)

History of Overland Park:

Overland Park is rich in history!

The city traces its roots back to 1905 with the arrival of its founder William B. Strang Jr., who platted subdivisions, including one named “Overland Park,” along a military roadway.

Strang envisioned a self-sustaining, well planned “park-like” community that had strong commerce, quality education, vibrant neighborhoods, convenient transportation and accommodating recreational facilities – all amenities that today, make Overland Park one of the best places to live and grow up.

Before Strang’s death in 1921, he established several housing developments, an interurban railroad and an airfield. Remnants of his interurban line remain today as do his limestone car barn, 79th and Santa Fe Drive (home to Traditions Furniture), and his Carriage House in Santa Fe Commons Park, 8045 Santa Fe Drive, home to the Overland Park Historical Society.

On May 20, 1960, Overland Park was incorporated as a first-class city with a population of 28,085. The nationally-recognized city today encompasses 75.6 square miles of Johnson County, and has more than 184,700 residents, making it the second most populous city in Kansas and metropolitan Kansas City.

Prior to incorporation, Overland Park was part of the Mission Urban Township, which included the cities of Mission and Prairie Village. Overland Park’s formation was based on land other communities shunned.

Overland Park has received many national awards for its quality of life, education system, public safety, low taxes, healthy economic, health industry and more. (source: http://www.opkansas.org/about-overland-park/)

Mortgage Banker  //  NMLS #259721

I started in mortgage banking in 2003 and eventually found my home here at Flat Branch Home Loans in 2023. The mortgage business is truly my passion. I love being able to help people buy a home for their family or their investment portfolio. Watching a person or family achieve the goal of homeownership is the BEST. Mortgage banking is more than just helping you buy a home to me. It is creating a lasting partnership with my clients and my referral partners that allow you to trust in me with your mortgage needs for life.

But, I am guessing you really clicked on my photo to learn more about me and who I am…..

I am a working mom and wife – and would not have it any other way.

I met my husband in 2009 and we married in 2011 and we welcomed Rhea Marie to the world in 2013.

When I married Josh and we had Rhea, I truly found my WHY. This little family of mine is the complete motivation I needed to grow my brand and my team to become the top local mortgage experts in the KC market.

I spend my days and nights coaching my clients about homeownership and my team about the mortgage business.

But, in my spare time, you will likely find me at the lake on the boat with family and friends. I love going to KC Royals baseball games, watching KU basketball, and watching Tom Brady play football. I love to visit my sis in Chicago or hit the blackjack tables in Vegas. But, most importantly, I love spending my free time with Josh, Rhea, and our 3 puppy dogs – Sammy, KC, and Charlie.
